Anthropic Claude Code
I’m not a developer, but Claude Code gives me the opportunity to turn my wild ideas into something real. This page is a good example. It runs on a plugin I built with Claude Code that lets me publish gear write-ups like the one you’re reading, rank and update everything in one place, and handle the design without touching code.
I used Claude Code to build out business tools which are available to use for free, hosted through my own web app and integrated into my website. And also to create my /book-reviews plugin, which gives every review I write the same standardized template.
This /gear plugin and those other tools took thoughtful planning, and I do have some design knowledge, but they’re projects I never would have even taken on without a resource like this one. Based on how fast these AI models are evolving there’s no telling how easy it will be for you or me to create whatever we want in the future.
I bounce back and forth between a number of the major frontier AI models. I’ll do my best to create and keep them ranked in the AI category but it may be too chaotic to keep up with.
How I Use It
I run Claude Code in Terminal on my Mac. I prefer using it there because it’s lightweight, doesn’t require a code editor, and sits alongside tools I already use, like Git for version control and the Firebase CLI for deployments. I describe what I want, and it reads my project, writes the code, runs it, and fixes what breaks.
This page is a good example. The plugin behind /gear started as a Claude chat experiment, but the original version didn’t hold up. I rebuilt it from scratch in Claude Code with my own categories, rankings, and a full block editor for each write-up.
Integrations
I’ve used Claude Code with Firebase to build web apps for my consulting business. It works with the project configuration, database, and deployment tools, making it practical to go from an idea to a working feature without handing the project off.
I also use it with Git and GitHub to save versions before and after major changes. If a build session goes sideways, I can roll back to a version that worked. Claude Code handles the commits, but I review the changes and handle live deployments myself.
